College Image Study |
 |
 |
Consider a customized study that examines what your key constituents know about you, think about you, and want from you. Aslanian Group's College Image Study is designed to get you the information you need to confirm what you already do well and get advice on what you could do better. The entire image study, from the initial planning meeting at the college to the final presentation, can take as little as three months. There are several key steps:
Step 1: We reach out to your local area.
Community Residents
Aslanian Group conducts telephone interviews with full-time residents of your service area who are at least "somewhat familiar" with the college (and we keep track of those who are not!) You help us specify how old they must be and other personal characteristics they must have to be eligible for our conversations. We also hold focus groups with key groups and constituents from whom we want to gather more in-depth and illustrative information.
Local Organizations
Key employers (of all sizes and types) and representatives of government agencies (your local government as well as the schools and others), community service groups, and associations are interviewed. Specific respondents are further surveyed through focus groups so that we can add in-depth information to our extensive surveys. In addition, and if appropriate, we ask you to nominate the leadership of specific minority groups so that we can meet with them about your college and learn how to better serve more of their constituents.
Step 2: We ask them what you want to know.
During our initial planning meeting at your campus, we offer a host of areas that can be covered but invite you to nominate and discuss special interests of your own. Here are some of the many topics we have examined:
- Extent and nature of familiarity with the college
- Visibility of the college in the community
- Sources of information about the college
- Personal experiences with the college
- Knowledge of key features of the college
- Perceptions of who the college serves and how
- Comparison of the college to others in the area
- Advice on promoting college programs and services
- Thoughts on what the college should do for the community and for individual residents
. . . and more
Step 3: We report back to you.
Aslanian Group submits a final written report that contains all the data we collected plus key recommendations based on these data. The report is written in plain English and focuses on actions that your college can take. These findings are delivered to college administrators and others through a PowerPoint presentation at your college. Thereafter, your college may use the PowerPoint presentation so that you can easily share the findings with others.
